The Temple of Heaven is one of Beijing's most beautiful architectural achievements — a UNESCO World Heritage Site with remarkable circular geometry. Arrive before 9am to see the surrounding park come alive with locals doing tai chi, playing traditional instruments, and practicing calligraphy.
Take Metro Line 5 to Tiantan Dong Men (East Gate) station. The park is large — the main temple complex is about a 10-minute walk from the east gate. Buy combined park + temple tickets at the entrance.

Walk south to the Circular Mound Altar (圜丘坛)

The park surrounding the temple opens at 6am — arrive early to see authentic local morning activity.
The Long Corridor (near the north gate) is where locals gather to sing, dance, and play music — a highlight.
