北京动物园
Giant pandas and over a century of zoological history in central Beijing.
Beijing Zoo is home to China's most prominent giant panda exhibit — multiple pandas in a well-maintained facility right in the city centre. For visitors not going to Chengdu, this is the most convenient panda experience in China. The zoo itself, founded in 1906, has significant historical charm with Art Nouveau pavilions from the Qing Dynasty.
Take Metro Line 4 to Beijing Zoo station — the zoo entrance is a 3-minute walk. Buy tickets at the gate or online. The Panda House (熊猫馆) is near the main entrance. Morning feeding happens around 9–10am. Combined tickets cover all exhibits.

Follow these guides to navigate each part of your visit.
Take Metro Line 4 to Beijing Zoo station — walk 3 minutes to the entrance
Buy your ticket at the gate (¥15 zoo + ¥5 Panda House)
Head directly to the Panda House (熊猫馆) near the main entrance — turn right after entering
Arrive before 10am for panda feeding time when the animals are most active
After pandas, visit the African Animals area and the Aquarium (separate ticket)
Allow 2–3 hours for the full zoo experience
The Panda House requires a separate ¥5 ticket beyond the zoo entry — buy both together at the gate.
Morning visits (9–11am) are best for active pandas — they sleep through the hot afternoon.
The Beijing Zoo Aquarium (北京海洋馆) is a separate paid attraction next to the zoo — worth it for families.
Combine with the Summer Palace (15 min by metro) for a full western Beijing day.
