The Chengdu Panda Base is home to 80+ giant pandas in a near-natural bamboo forest setting. It is the world's most successful panda breeding program and the only place where seeing multiple active giant pandas is virtually guaranteed. Arrive at opening for feeding time.
Take Metro Line 3 to Xionmao Dadao station, then the free shuttle bus (约15分钟). Or take a DiDi directly. Tickets MUST be booked online at cdpanda.com — no walk-up tickets during peak periods.

Book your ticket at cdpanda.com before anything else — they sell out fast
Take Metro Line 3 to Xionmao Dadao station, then the free shuttle bus to the base
Arrive at 8:00am when the base opens — pandas are fed and most active in the morning
Head to Enclosure 1 and 2 first — these have the most pandas
Visit the nursery (育幼中心) to see baby pandas (seasonal — check availability)
Grab a bamboo-shaped ice cream at the snack stalls — a Panda Base tradition
Leave by noon before afternoon heat puts all pandas to sleep
Book tickets at cdpanda.com as soon as your Chengdu dates are confirmed.
Arrive at 8am — pandas are fed at 8:30am and are most active until 11am.
The base is large — wear comfortable shoes and consider renting the electric buggy (¥10/trip) for longer distances.
No panda holding is available — it was discontinued for animal welfare reasons.
