Eling Park sits on the highest point of the Yuzhong Peninsula and offers the single best free panoramic view in Chongqing — the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers below the vertical city skyline is one of China's most dramatic urban panoramas. The view is especially spectacular at dusk when the evening fog rolls in and the city lights begin to illuminate the cliff faces.
Take Metro Line 1 to Eling station and walk 10 minutes uphill. The park entrance is free. The best viewpoint is the Eling Piazza lookout deck on the north side of the park, facing the two rivers. Bring a jacket — it is noticeably windier at the hilltop than in the city below.

Enter the free park and follow signs to the 鹅岭广场 (Eling Piazza) viewpoint
At the viewpoint, look north and west — the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing rivers is visible below
If the fog is present (common in Chongqing), it fills the river valleys and creates a dramatic sea-of-clouds effect
Stay for sunset — the sky behind the mountains turns orange while the city lights gradually illuminate
Descend from the park and take a DiDi to Jiefangbei or Hongya Cave for the evening
This is completely free — the best panoramic view in Chongqing costs nothing.
Chongqing has fog over 200 days a year — don't be disappointed if visibility is reduced. The fog itself is atmospheric.
The Eling Piazza viewpoint is clearly signed within the park. The best spot is the north-facing terrace.
