洪崖洞
Eleven floors of traditional stilted buildings cascading down a river cliff — Chongqing's iconic night view.
Hongya Cave is Chongqing's most photographed landmark — a dramatically stacked complex of traditional diaojiaolou (stilted wooden buildings) rising 11 floors up a cliff face above the Jialing River. By day it is a lively dining and shopping complex; after dark it transforms into one of China's most spectacular nighttime views, the neon-reflected in the water below. The best photographs are taken from across the river on the Qianxi Bridge.
Take Metro Line 1 or 6 to Xiaoshizi station and walk 10 minutes north along the riverfront. The complex is free to enter and explore. Restaurants inside the upper floors offer dramatic window views over the river — worth the tourist pricing for a dinner with the view. Walk across the Qianxi Bridge for the exterior shot that makes Hongya Cave famous.

Arrive just before sunset (around 6:30pm) to see the transition from day to illuminated
Walk across the Qianxi Bridge (千厮门大桥) to photograph Hongya Cave from the opposite riverbank

After dinner, walk east along the riverfront promenade to Jiefangbei for the city lights
The famous photograph of Hongya Cave is taken from ACROSS the Jialing River on the Qianxi Bridge — walk over for the shot, not from below.
Restaurants inside Hongya Cave are tourist-priced but the river view at night is genuinely extraordinary for one meal.
The complex is free to enter and explore — most floors are shopping and dining, open until 11pm.
Combine with a walk to Jiefangbei Square (15 min east) for a full evening of Chongqing's downtown energy.
