解放碑商业区
Chongqing's neon-drenched downtown square — the city's commercial heart after dark.
Jiefangbei is the beating commercial heart of Chongqing — a dense cluster of malls, street food alleys, and neon-lit tower blocks centred on the Liberation Monument (解放碑), a 27-metre stone column built in 1947. After 8pm, the surrounding streets transform into one of China's most energetic urban environments, with rooftop bars, hotpot restaurants, and thousands of locals out for the evening.
Take Metro Line 1, 2, or 6 to Linjiangmen station and walk 5 minutes, or Metro Lines 1 & 6 to Jiaochangkou station. The Liberation Monument obelisk is the central landmark. The surrounding pedestrianised area (解放碑步行街) is always open. Most restaurants and bars open from 6pm.

Hello, please take me to Jiefangbei Square, Yuzhong District, Chongqing. Thank you!
For your eyes only:
Jiefangbei (解放碑) is the most famous landmark in central Chongqing — all drivers know it immediately.
Follow these guides to navigate each part of your visit.
Take Metro Line 6 to Linjiangmen station and walk 5 minutes to the Liberation Monument
Stand at the monument (解放碑) and look around — the surrounding malls and towers are an urban spectacle
Walk the pedestrianised shopping street (步行街) in any direction from the monument
Look for the side alleys with hotpot restaurants and xiaomian noodle stalls from around 6pm
Ascend to a rooftop bar for views over the illuminated downtown — several options in the surrounding towers
Walk 15 minutes west to Hongya Cave for the riverside night view as a finale
The Liberation Monument itself is the central point — start there and walk outward in any direction.
Street food in the alleys off the main pedestrian zone is dramatically better value than mall restaurants.
Chongqing drivers know "解放碑" (Jiefangbei) immediately — it's the most famous address in central Chongqing.
Combine with Hongya Cave (15 min west) and the Yangtze River Cableway (15 min south) for a full evening itinerary.
