Liziba is the world's most extraordinary metro station — Metro Line 2 passes directly through the 6th to 8th floors of a functioning residential apartment tower. Built in 2004 when Chongqing had no flat land for a conventional elevated track, it is a completely normal commute for residents but a jaw-dropping engineering spectacle for anyone else. No special ticket or reservation needed — it is just the metro.
Take Metro Line 2 toward Jiaochangkou direction. Exit at Liziba station (李子坝站) and look around you — the metro platform is inside the building. For the best exterior view of the train passing through the building, walk to the observation platform on the street below the building on Liziba Road.

Take Metro Line 2 to Liziba station. Exit and look at the building around you — the platform is inside floors 6–8 of the tower.

Take Metro Line 2 (轨道交通2号线) toward Jiaochangkou direction
Exit at Liziba station — look up and around: you are inside a residential apartment building
Take photos of the platform area within the building structure
For the best exterior shot: take the exit and walk to Liziba Road below the building
Stand back and look up — you can see the metro track entering and exiting the tower's mid-floors
Wait for a train to pass through the building from the exterior viewpoint
Continue on Line 2 to Jiaochangkou for the central city area
This requires no special ticket or tour — it is just the metro. Buy a standard fare card at any Line 2 station.
The exterior viewing platform below the building on Liziba Road gives the best photo of the train passing through.
This is a normal commuter station — be respectful of locals commuting and do not block the platform doors.
Combine with Eling Park (15 min walk uphill) and the Yangtze River Cableway (20 min by metro) for a full day of Chongqing engineering marvels.
