Why Go

Yuyuan Garden is a 400-year-old classical Chinese garden in the heart of the old city. Its surrounding bazaar is one of Shanghai's most atmospheric areas for street food and traditional crafts. Arrive early to see the garden before tour groups arrive.

Take Metro Line 10 to Yuyuan station. The garden itself requires a ticket — buy online or at the gate. The surrounding bazaar is free to walk around. Morning visits (before 10am) are significantly less crowded.
